Spitfire funded by the British Community in
Buenos Aires, picture kindly provided by Claudio Meunier.
This Mark II Spitfire was flown 65 Sqn for a month before 616 took possession in February 1941. It was flown by P/O Lionel 'Buck' Casson, and was lost on the morning of 5 May 1941, following combat with a Ju88. Casson baled out (and survived) when the engine caught fire.
