My involvement in the group No Man’s Land stems from a request for information on the identification of Jakob Hönes, discovered near Serre in 2003. My current role is to provide historic information regarding the German army and German casualty information. I am not a professional archaeologist. I am in charge of a Special Investigative Unit for an insurance company.
I have a B.A. Degree in 20th Century European History. I have studied the German Army 1914-1918 and related subjects for the last 40+ years with particular interest in German casualty details.
I have participated in three archaeological projects prior to joining No Man’s Land. I was fortunate to be able to join the No Man’s Land team for part of the work done on the sites at Serre and Loos in February 2005.
I am a member of the Western Front Association, former member of the Imperial German Military Collector’s Association. I have contributed to publications in the Battleground Europe series and the Pals series.
I have published articles in Kaiserzeit, on Gas Warfare and Machine Gun troops.
I have published two articles in Stand To! The Raid (7/8 May 1916) Edition 50
and Otto Ernst, Edition 53.
